Miss Grand Korea, the pageant for selecting DMZ World Peace Ambassador, has been postponed due to the COVID 19.
"We keep all the final contestants in quarantine for a week following our judging system, but it is impossible to do it this year because of the COVID19. So at this point, we decided to delay Miss Grand Korea pageant to keep social distancing and avoid causing health issues. We will wait for the right time to hold the pageant when this health-threatening situation gets better."
Since 2017 Miss Grand Korea is held annually and sent delegates to international pageants. The organization sent representatives to represent Korea to Miss Grand International in 2017 and 2018.
In 2019, Miss Grand International was held in Venezuela, and the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly recommended Miss Grand Korea Organization to cancel or delay visiting Venezuela. For this reason, the organization did not send the delegate to Miss Grand International 2019. Instead, the organization dispatched representatives to Miss Global and Global Asian Model and achieved a successful result.
However, the organization did not continue holding Miss Grand International license since Miss Grand International 2020 host country is Venezuela again.
"We considered that holding a license even though we cannot send our representative is not the right decision for us. When this health crisis gets better, we are going to hold Miss Grand Korea and send our delegate to other international pageants," said Miss Grand Korea organization member.
Namwon Chunhyang pageant, and the world's top 4 pageants, Miss International, are also delayed. Other international pageants are also unclear when the pageants are going to be held.
